When asked about this work by Frank Frazetta, Joe Mannarino, Heritage's Director of Comics & Comic Art offered:

"Frank would never part with it while he was living. It was always greatly appreciated by the fans. It's hard to totally appreciate it unless you knew where Frank was coming from. At this point in his career, he knew he could draw and was painting photorealisticly.

He wanted to experiment with color and expression to achieve the same effect. He loved it when he could 'suggest' something in a quick stroke and know that the viewer saw exactly what he wanted the viewer to see.

Take a good look and you see that sleight of hand wonderfully achieved throughout this painting. From a stone cold point of view - the background is blank Masonite board. Very little is rendered to perfection; however, the mood is totally natural - no stiffness which he abhorred."
