David went out to confronted the ladies who were on our deck and got a simple loud reply of “turtles!” 😳 About 50 had hatched near by and started to make their way towards the hotel lights vs the ocean in the opposite direction 150 yards away. They were going onto the patios, under the villa, into the parking lot and into the bushes. The hotel lights disoriented them & they were going into the wrong direction uphill into unsafe areas. We all decided to gently pick them up and put them into a bag to carry them towards the water and release them by the ocean. As we are doing so a guy with a red headlamp shows up, a bucket & a stick and demands we set them free in front of him.😠 He seemed to want to poach them for himself. We ended up releasing every single turtle into the water before this guy got a single one. Hopefully we did some good and saved these little guys from death due to disorientation or this guy with stick. Im sure if the hotels weren’t here they would have been ok but mother nature has changed for them and a little help and redirection was a must to save them from uncertainty.」9月25日 0時37分
