Yesterday in the UK the leader of our opposition party, a former defense lawyer for human rights, abstained on a bill designed by our current government to offer the British Military protection from prosecution for war crimes & torture. Labour MPs who voted against the bill (like @nadiawhittomemp) were sacked from their roles in opposition government.   Electoral politics will not save us. Traditional checks and balances will not prevent electoral fraud. The media is not fit for purpose, they will and can continue to minimise (and reframe as somehow surprising!) each erosion of morality as it doesn't really matter from a protected position of white liberalism. To think of the precious years & pages wasted in the liberal press debating non-issues like trans people's right to self-identify. This is the drip feed of apathy and self concern by privileged people stealing all the imagination, joy & potential from the world. I echo others in calling for nothing less than abolition & revolution. There is nothing left to salvage.  Addendum: for anyone commenting below about why they vote... Neither my post or Zoe's is saying you shouldn't. It's simply that having faith in electoral politics is putting too much energy and belief in something which clearly doesn't work.
