It is not quite what it looks like at first sight. Although ostriches do have many chicks, usually about 15, there are never as many as in this photo. When I searched for ostrich families with chicks in Tarangire National Park, I was finally lucky to find three families that had teamed up, with a total of 43 chicks. Here, one of the fathers proudly walks ahead with the whole kindergarten group, while the other parents are still behind in search of food.
