I knew I wanted my own one day, but that one day kept being stretched out, till I knew I was truly going to be READY. Then one day I turned 37 years old. The years were passing by so quickly and I began to wonder if I ever was going to be ready and what happened if I couldn’t conceive because of my age and should I freeze my eggs? One night deep in conversation with my mum about motherhood and life my mum assured me that, I’ll never ever really be ready for children, and that when I finally have my own, it would be different. Well that day finally arrived, and it WAS different. Once I became pregnant, there was a growing sense of peace and happiness for me, the need to nurture and protect our baby inside, finally that feeling I’d so long yearned for had arrived. Once I gave birth to our baby Oliver, and became a mama, it’s been a whole new ballgame for me. The overwhelming rollercoaster of emotions, struggles, wins, and gains — but most importantly feeling so INCREDIBLY POWERFUL, BLESSED and forever GRATEFUL to my body for giving me the best gift in life. As my own mother said, I’ll never every be truly ready until that day he is born. I gave birth to our baby Oliver when I was 38 years old and even though I’m considered as an advanced maternal age (geriatric) for being a new mum there’s nothing I’ve been more grateful for in my life.
