We have all benefited. Yet the use of petroleum and coal has warmed the atmosphere that we all depend upon. In 1824 scientists understood the greenhouse effect of trapping heat. It was named as such in 1901.  Atmospheric CO2 now stands at 412.55 ppm (NOAA, Mauna Kea, Hawaii 9 September 2020). This is the one metric that we all need to be aware of.  Glaciers are melting and the oceans are more acidic as a result.   On land, one of the effects we see is wildland fires. From Australia to North America late summer comes with fire. Parched landscapes ignite.  While CO2 levels are intangible, fire is very real. These images from around the West are what we have been experiencing this past month. Climate change is real. We need leaders that address this issue so that future generations can live life on a planet that is habitable and sustaining.
