Immediately after putting the book down, I made my first vision board. Just a few days prior, the Olympic Committee had just released the design of the Olympic medals of the 2008 Olympics. I quickly printed them out and taped the piece of paper on the board. Next to it I taped a crayon drawing (swipe to see a pic of the drawing) a little girl sent me… who I am still trying to track down 12 years later just to say thank you, so whoever and wherever you are if you see this post, THANK YOU. As you see, the drawing was of the Olympic podium, with “2008 Olympics” at bottom. On the 1st place podium there was a blonde gymnast with a gold medal around her next, with an arrow pointing to me that read, “you”. I stuck this right next to the picture of the olympic gold medal. I looked at this vision board every single day, before training and after training. It was the first thing I looked at when I woke up, and the last thing I looked at before I went to sleep. Finally the time came for us to travel to Beijing. The first day in the Olympic Village, I spotted a cool VISA ATM machine, shaped like an arch (swipe to see the pic) As I walked into it, I found a life size picture of myself with the word “DESTINY” written right next to it. That’s the moment I knew. That’s the moment I realized the true meaning of destiny… days later I went on to win that Olympic All Around Gold medal that I had dreamed about since I was a little girl. This post isn’t necessarily about winning a gold medal, rather this is about understanding that what is meant for you will ALWAYS find it’s way to you and be yours…. That people don’t come into your life for no reason… That things don’t happen to you for no reason. That when you work your ass off and believe in yourself, your dreams can come true, and miracles can happen. And that sometimes all you need is a little extra belief in your own self.
