Underneath I would have to drink to get by. I was severely depressed, angry and hated myself. No one saw that side of me except one but they benefited from that version of me so they encouraged it. _ Now I love telling people the truth about how I got here. I used to be terrified people would find out I was raised by drug addicts. My family shamed me for being molested at 5. I thought I would be looked down upon if people knew I was from the streets. That I was in a gang and that I would pick fights with girls for fun. That I was a mom at 15 and in an abusive relationship. I couldn’t tell anyone I was homeless and living in my car with my baby at 17. A guy told me not to post on social media that I only finished the 8th grade because people would think I’m stupid. I am still cautious when I tell people I was a stripper at 17. But you know what.... _ I’m not ashamed of those parts of my life. I don’t fear judgment, I’m numb to it. Living in fear of what others think of you is draining. I’m proud of everything I’ve been through because I’m here today in a better position a better person. I’ve learned so much and I dug myself out of dark holes by myself armed with only faith. _ I’m proud of me and how far I’ve come. I’m doing exactly what I love to do in life.
