Every day is fulfilling for Kenyan wildlife veterinarian, Dr. Stephen Chege. ‘Chege’ as he is known, has an extraordinary patient list; from elephants with gunshot wounds and lions with infections, to a black rhino who needed life-saving eye surgery. Thanks to support from San Diego Zoo Global, Chege now focuses on indigenous conservancy areas (community conservancies), members of our partner the Northern Rangelands Trust @NRT_Kenya. This enables him to respond to emergency wildlife incidents raised by community-members, support endangered species translocations, and carry out pro-active conservation work such as animal vaccination campaigns.
Chege is featured in the latest series from NRT - #10guardians – which will feature stories from ten extraordinary people across the NRT member conservancy landscape dedicating their lives to protecting wildlife and securing their future. Link in bio.
