So excited to share this with you all. My dear friend, the brilliant journalist and writer Maria Hinojosa @maria_la_hinojosa has published her new book Once I Was You. Just received my signed copy in the mail and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Earlier this year I was honored when Maria asked me to read the galley proof of what was to be her new book. I was a huge fan of Raising Raúl, her chronicle of motherhood and parenting. She has the gift of taking her own personal experience of a subject and examining it through a universal lens. Here she tackles immigration in the U.S. She tells us the story of her own family’s migration to this country and through that examines the current state of things. She gets to the hard truths.
