LINK IN BIO #Repost @vicadesmadre ・・・ Tonight Good Morning America called the Rio Grande Valley a “good spot” for hurricane Hanna to have landed because there wasn’t a lot of people that lived there. We are a very large community of more than 1.3 million that spans over 10+ cities, 4 counties and this catagory 1 hurricane devastated us. We are also an extremely low income border community where 90% of our population is Latinx, and we are continuously left out and forgotten by the state. After we have already been declared a COVID-19 hotspot, and so many of our families and friends have had to see their loved ones die, we also have to figure out how to repair caved in roofs, broken windows, damaged cars and massive amounts of flooding that we will take weeks to come back from. And this happens every year because we simply do not have the infrastructure to withstand hurricanes because the state refuses to invest in our communities even though we live alongside the coast. We are raising funds in order to give immediate financial relief to families who have been hurt by this hurricane, and I urge you to share this and donate yourself, especially if you didn’t know the Rio Grande Valley existed before you met me or you were born in the RGV and moved away.
