I fall a lot, my muscles are killing me, and things that I could do in my sleep since I was 15 years old have been feeling close to impossible. Skating has felt foreign to me for quite a while now. I randomly panic going into jumps, feeling dizzy and unfocused. I often lose connection with my body and have no control over what is happening. But today I did something that felt insanely natural. As the people on the ice with me were landing triple axels and quads, I landed one of my first triple toes in a long time. I’ve been landing those for more than a decade but my relief and joy of landing it again felt like winning a competition. It felt like I was remembering a part of myself. • • Enjoy the little things.
