I was recently in Guatemala on a project. The ancient Maya city of Tikal is home to many limestone pyramids that tower up to 70 meters (230 feet) high. El Mirador is located 70 kilometers (43 miles) to the north, with no access road. Unfortunately it's threatened by deforestation and looting. Constellation Cygnus (the Swan) is seen here, with the North America Nebula next to bright star Deneb. This young, blue-white, giant star is one of the most luminous in our side of the galaxy.
