That's more than six times the size of New York City. The fires have left at least seven people dead and more than 1,400 buildings destroyed, Cal Fire said. Summer temperatures are rising well above-average. In Death Valley last week, the temperature rose to a sweltering 130 degrees Fahrenheit — the hottest temperature recorded in the world since 1913. "If you don't believe in climate change, come to California," tweeted California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
