She was 15 and I was 17 years old when we met. If there was ever such a thing as love at first sight this was it! She was Miss Kentucky Teen and came to NY to model with her mom and I was a film student at NYU! We met in the summer of 1986 and fell in love and we stayed together for 13 years! She became the Noxema girl and I put her in my music videos and then she became a famous actress (not from being in my music videos) and my dreams of becoming a Film Director came true! She was there every step of the way as my supporter and best friend. I knew even if I didn’t make it as a director she was still going to love me no matter what. It was a true love story and our relationship was like a fairytale until I screwed it up (but that’s another story). Rebecca is not only my first but she is family to me.... so much so that one day my Grandfather got sick and I went to sleep with him at the hospital... As I was getting ready to tuck myself into my cot in his room my cell phone rings and it was Rebecca. She said she was giving birth and wanted me to know! I said where are you? She said at Cedar Sinai.....no way I’m here too! Coincidence or G-dsend??? As I ran upstairs to the maternity ward and into the room her beautiful baby Billie was coming out right then and there! I could tell her husband Eric, who was shirtless, was not too happy seeing me (understandably) the ex of 13 years, so I respectfully excused myself and waited right outside the door until the delivery was over. I must admit I cried waiting outside the door not just out of happiness for Rebecca and Eric but for the regret that it wasn’t my baby! These photos are from when I was reluctantly invited back into the room. Rebecca went on to have another beautiful baby Georgia and I am grateful that they are and will always be in my life!
