I am a Playwright and received my MFA from @newschoolperformingarts - My pronouns are: she/her and I have a stutter.  I have stuttered since I was 5 years old (shout out to @sayorg ). •  Colin and I were students @iutheatre together- I was also part of the stage management team for a production of Chess way back in the day (cue embarrassing photos!) •  IU was an exciting time for me as I leaned into the different ways I could express myself as a theatre artist.  I began on the stage management track, focused on directing and simultaneously sought to create space for the Black students within both the theatre department and at the University.  Telling Black stories through Theatre is not a new exploration for me.  It has been at the core of my work for nearly 20 years and shout out to Playbill for featuring me in July with an interview that detailed some of that work. •  🎭 Theatre is something that had been part of my life since I was in high school.  I was very involved in @marianriceplayers and before that, my father, Dr. James Allen Jones has been my biggest influence for my life in the theatre. He he had a theatre organization in the 60s and 70s and would take students from Detroit and the suburbs of Detroit to England to perform. •  I am excited to be here over the next couple hours and dive deep into my work. •  👉🏾👉🏾Follow me @garliacornelia and support me on Patreon!
