There are so many reasons to take your kids camping and so many reasons why they'll absolutely love it. Our All Outside leader Nailah Blades enjoys getting outside with her two young children. She's got some great tips for keeping little campers comfortable and happy. 1. Do a trial run. If your kids are new to camping, practice at home in your backyard or living room first. This will help them get used to sleeping in a sleeping bag and in a tent before you're actually out at a campsite 2. Bring glow sticks, kid-sized camp chairs, head lamps, and other kid-sized gear to add a little extra fun to your campsite 3. Pack all the snacks! Make sure you have a variety of foods and snacks that your kids love. And definitely don't skimp on the treats, like s'mores. 4. Bring things from home that will help your kids feel more comfortable when they go to bed. Pack a favorite stuffy, pillow, or blanket so that they can still feel safe and cozy at nighttime. 5. Be super flexible and prepared to get dirty! Mark your calendar for August 8th, Sleep Under The Stars Night! It's the perfect opportunity to camp outside with the kids. Set up the tent in the backyard or at a local campground and get ready for a night of stargazing and hanging out around the campfire.
