Hokusai’s Mount Fuji series seriously transformed my way of looking at printmaking and art. combined with my love of the ocean and wanting to create a “home” side of my body* (more below re: that) - i knew i would want to have “The Wave” permanently on me. having saved up the money simply by quitting some bad habits this year - i feel so incredibly whole that i finally have this piece on my arm. . . shouts to my incredible tattoo artist Bill and he did this freehand! not going to lie, the inner arm was quite painful but every line is worth it. color will be added in september yay! . . *clarifying what i mean by having a home side of my body - on the left side of me, i have my first tattoo, the male symbol, on my ankle. it is a stick and poke back when i was 14. on the other side of my ankle, i have a bird that my ex and still friend also has on her which is a symbol for “go back and fetch it.” on the outer side of my calf, i have two crows to represent my dad and uncle - my dad trains crows up in NH. right above my knee is a rendition of the boat my grandpa was born on. my hip has a seahorse which matches another ex, symbolizing the fact that men can carry babies. my shoulder has my mom’s handprint and right above this tattoo is “imparo” which is half of my first professional tattoo, “ancora imparo” which means i am still learning. now with The Wave, i am reminded still how the ocean is my home, the ocean is my mother earth, the ocean is unpredictable but always there. and i love that. on my left thumb, i have my bird tattooed (the one on all the less human more being shirts) that i also did when i was 14 by myself :) . . #thewave #hokusai #tattoo #freehand #transandhappy #transandinked #halfsleeve #love #ftm #transgender #art . .」7月30日 1時17分
