We live in a time now where thanks to technology we can do something once and perfect it, copy paste it and boom it’s looped and now you have a song. Thing is with so much technical proficiency it takes the human touch out of it (this is why Prince, RZA & Dilla were favs because their programming had a non quantized delivery to it. Sounded like a human was behind it. So pardon me for nerding out grilling #GregPhillinganes about his keyboard wizardry back in a time in which looping wasn’t much of an option like that. I mean you HAD to be good at your craft.

Let it also be known the most important life lesson is also in this ep, in which @greg_phillinganes_live also explains a technique #QuincyJones used to get the best out of his musicians. As humans there are two parts of our brains: a beta side (your conscious side. The side that knows you love cheese, and that those particular Jordan’s hurt your toes when you go to the gym) there is an Alpha side too (the side that knows which nutrients from the salad you ate can best clean your liver or provides adrenaline for that time you almost got in a car crash—-that part of your brain that runs your life but you can only access by not being “fully there”: sleep, meditation, prayer—-this is also how miracles occur like having stage 4 cancer & suddenly NOT having it—-another episode y’all lol)—- @クインシー・ジョーンズ takes advantage of alpha recording because when you are sleepy you don’t overthink your duties as a musician. So just know that half the music you hear mighta been tracked at 0 o’clock in the morning lol. Anywho if you read this far imma be surprised. Please enjoy pt 2 of @QLS w Greg! #QuestloveSupreme
