Jeannie Burk passed away this weekend at the age of 80. I meet Ms. Burk at the @wwiimuseum, she was one of the very first people that I photographed for the article, "The Last Voices of World War II". I am so happy that the magazine did this story and I am so happy that I was able to meet her and help tell her story. She had an amazing life.....a holocaust survivor, who went into hiding at age three and came out at the end of the was a six-year-old. "It is very scary now. It was so scary when I never thought I would ever hear of Jews being killed in a synagogue while praying in America. I cried for the whole weekend. "I go to schools on Saturdays and we have to have a police car there. It is terrible." What is my message to the next generation? "I'm not prepared to give my life yet. I'm not prepared to end it. The Younger Generation, "They have to remember. All the young people that I speak to, this is what I tell them. I tell them that when I die there will be no survivors left. So it is up to them. They're the ones that are going to have to remember this. And fight against anti-Semitism. They have to be strong. They have to survive.
