I’m @NancyTwine - the founder and CEO of @Briogeo, a clean, natural and conscious hair care brand. Over the last several weeks, I have been inspired to share more about who I am, how I got to where I am and why I created #Briogeo. I was personally surprised to learn that so many of our customers and fans had no idea that Briogeo is a Black-owned brand! So here is a little bit about me... I started my career in finance after graduating from The University of Virginia in 2007. In 2010, almost halfway through my finance career, I lost my mom suddenly in a car incident. That profound loss changed my world and inspired me to find new meaning and purpose in life. At the time, I was going to work each day feeling drained and unfulfilled, but also grateful to have a stable career in such a competitive industry. I was torn. But something within me was convinced that it was possible to create a meaningful career rooted in passion and inspiration. The six months following my mom’s passing, I went on a soul-searching journey to uncover the career and life of passion I would later seek to create. That soul-searching journey led me to reconnect with several experiences throughout my life. Some of the most profound moments - and relevant to my career change - were the times I spent with my mom growing up, concocting our own beauty products from scratch in the kitchen of our home. At a young age, I learned that it is possible to take simple, pure, plant-based ingredients and transform them into something truly transformational for the hair, skin, and body. My own childhood memories, coupled with the research I’d been doing, was substantiated by a revolutionary trend in beauty consumers seeking out clean and natural, but effective, products. This was the life-passion answer I was looking for and I decided to embark on a journey to develop my own line of clean, plant-based hair care for all textures and types.
