Photo by Keith Ladzinski @Keith Ladzinski Built in 1868, the Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse was designed to help boats navigate from Lake Superior to Munising Harbor in low light and foggy conditions. The waters around the harbor are littered with shipwrecks due to the notoriously dangerous waters. The lighthouse stands today, unused, as a beautiful piece of Great Lakes maritime history. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. #LakeSuperior
