This is the first time one of my dapper dandies has gotten the mural treatment as they’ve previously all been on paper or canvas. I started this series about three years ago where I wanted to do a twist on classic Victorian portraiture. The paintings of that time period are rather stoic so expanding from a traditional pose, I exaggerated their features, had their hair with vivid colors, and made a pattern on their skin. I had hoped an unusual dapper dandy with blue hair and a magenta suit would appeal to the folks at Plan Check, and fortunately it caught their interest. I was supposed to have done this back in February but after it especially rained for three weeks, the shutdown happened. Very grateful Plan Check chose to move forward with this project.
