Her middle initial “P” stood for “Pay it no mind,” which was Marsha’s response when questioned about her gender. 👑 She played a huge role in the 1969 Stonewall riots which was a watershed moment in LGBT history. Refusing to be harassed and mistreated by the police our people fought back. A riot, a protest, a revolution was born and Marsha was front and center. There’s a compelling Netflix documentary called “The Death And Life of Marsha P. Johnson” which shines a light on how incredibly fucked up trans people have had it and still do, especially trans people of color. And now, during Pride Month, the Trump administration has eliminated an Obama-era regulation prohibiting discrimination in health care against patients who are transgender.
