My dad died 4 days before Father’s Day in 2012. That Father’s Day I couldn’t even handle hearing the word “dad” because I was still unable to eat and just missed him the split second I woke up and realize being awake meant realizing my dad was gone, when just several days before, I thought my dad would always be alive.
My dad used to send me this song by Paul Simon, saying “there would never be a father that loved his daughter more than I love you”❤️
My dad would come home from work with baseball cards with the petrified gum, for me and my sister. We’d get excited about “dates with dad” ...where he’d take just one of us girls to go do something fun, one time I remember we went to a Monster Truck event, that he thought I’d really like😂. He taught us to ride bikes, tractors, quads, motorcycles and eventually taught me to drive a stick-shift.
He never complained, except for crowds😂, but always made everything fun, an adventure and a memory.
My dad always made me feel like I could do anything, always made me feel like I was the most beautiful girl in the world and I miss how easily he would laugh and how he was always smiling.
Him telling me, “if anything goes wrong, your car breaks down, the kids do something crazy (like when they drew pictures with Sharpie pen on the entry way walls😂)...he said just laugh and say YOU ARE MAKING MEMORIES!
I love him so much and miss him so much...sometimes, like the night before the anniversary of his death just a week ago, I just broke down sobbing on the floor in the hallway when I found his death certificate.
If you have a dad, tell him you love him, make a point to make memories with them, you might think they’ll always be here, like I did.
And if you’ve lost your dad, you celebrate them today, do something they loved, eat one of their favorite foods, listen to their favorite music, make this a day you celebrate them from here on out!
Their very DNA is pumping through your veins with each heart beat. Let’s live with more life, more bravery, making bolder decision and with more fun & gratitude for another day to be alive. ❤️ #happyfathersday Heaven Celebration Style...I love you dad❤️
