So I’m cherishing every morning car ride. I feel, in my heart, I was just taking him to his first day of kindergarten and leaving in tears and promising to come eat with him at lunch and I’d bring little toddler Ellie, most likely wearing a princess dress, to eat with him a few hours later. Their schools start at different times, so my days of the car full of kids, in the morning, is already over. I drive Ellie to her school that starts earlier and I’m grateful we get some 1-on-1, mom/girl time. Then, I come home and pick up Blake, and my heart is trying to cherish and not be sad that I only have a few more weeks of getting our morning drop offs…for the rest of his life😢 Ahhhhh…that sounds too sad🙈! The morning car rides is one of my favorite parts of the day… When they’re babies you hear people say “they grow so fast”…and it’s moments like them starting to walk, talk, start school and it all just starts flying past you and you wish you could just go back and hold them like cuddly babies again. One day maybe I’ll just insist/hope they’ll need me to drop their kids off and my mornings will feel like I get to live all of this a little more… There might be some tears swelling up in my eyes…but all this to say, treasure each morning drop-off, every chance to put love into them, and soak up these moments that zoom by like when you’re shuffling a deck of cards and they start flapping down too fast.
