Life was so tough for the Syrian refugee families I met when I visited the camp in Jordan in 2014, so I could not imagine how much harder COVID-19 has made their lives. That’s why ahead of #WorldRefugee Day I connected with Irene, the camp manager for Za’atari, which now houses nearly 80,000 refugees. This inspiring woman is truly committed to working for and standing with @refugees, even in the face of a global pandemic. After learning three months ago that that Za’atari was going to be locked down due to coronavirus, Irene packed a bag and moved to the camp. She wanted to make sure she could stay close to the refugees she serves. Irene is the true definition of a humanitarian. But you don’t have to work at UNHCR or be a hero to stand in solidarity with refugees. Everyone can help make a difference. Every action counts.
