It took the message of the Emancipation Proclamation two-and a half years to get to black slaves in Texas (June 19th 1865) telling them that they were free. In light of all the evidence that we still have work to do, and the fact that it took Texas until 1980 to finally make it a state holiday, how about in 2020, we bring the much needed attention and finally make it a national holiday. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay
