The shot taken by Jasmine Carey shows a two week old baby humpback and it’s sleeping mother. Humpbacks frequent the pristine Tonga waters and are one of the many reasons I find conservation of the Pacific Ocean so important. They never truly sleep, being able to shut off a section at a time of their brain to rest. Speaking about the image, Jasmine said that rain was falling while they slept, gently lulling them.
