one man’s dream
Some of you might remember that I started out as a street photographer 10 years ago and for a very long time my feed consisted of candid street portraits that I was taking of strangers. I stopped when my account grew bigger and people started contacting me because they would find themselves in one of my shots. It always made me feel guilty of invading their private space even though some of them were happy about it and wanted me to send them their portraits. Lately I realized that I’m starting to miss this kind of photography but I’m still struggling, even more now that privacy laws have become stricter in Germany.
For me street photography is a documentation of history, of particular places and particular periods. It is important, versatile and one of the most challenging genres there is. However, there are some problems with street photography that largely revolve around privacy and ethics. I’d love to hear what you guys think about this topic. Let’s discuss.
