As a coach, I had been offering information to my followers regularly which at the time was a very racially diverse group of womxn. I had been receiving questions from my white audience on how to help, what to do etc. Arguing began in the comments and I decided to go live to talk to my white followers about what they could do to help. 11 people showed up. I was exhausted. I left the live up in case in any of black friends found it to be a useful tool if they were as exhausted as I was. The video is now at 5.8 million views and has been shared across the world. I’ve received thousands of messages and stories from people who have used the video as a tool to talk to family for the first time, talk to children, or even to make changes within their workplace. When making the video, I didn’t think my voice would really be heard. I share this because so many have told me that they don’t have an “audience”. big enough. None of that matters. Speak your truth.
