I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some quality time with a pack of wild dogs in the Kruger National Park, what seems like a lifetime ago, having been locked down for so long now. African Wild Dogs, Painted Dogs, Painted Wolves or Cape Hunting Dogs as they are also called are highly endangered with no more than 7000 individuals remaining in the wild. Like hyena they are a severely misunderstood species and education is key to elevating their status as well as creating much needed awareness about their plight. My friends at @painteddogconservationinc do an excellent job in raising awareness and much needed funding to help make sure that these incredible carnivores are around for future generations to witness and enjoy.
