NATALIE LIAOさんのインスタグラム写真 - (NATALIE LIAOInstagram)「My name is Fong Min Liao and I made the decision to pursue a fine art career in 2018, by producing my very own solo exhibition of paintings I had created over the course of a year and half prior. These past 2 years, I’ve grown in ways I never thought possible and for that I am so grateful. I don’t come from a family of big wealth. I have been supporting myself since I was 19 years old as my parents had cut me off financially when they found out I dropped out of college. I felt free when that happened. I was determined to find my own path. From age 19 to 21, I worked in fine dining restaurants in Los Angeles because I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Waitressing was a simple and quick way to make money without having to exert much mental power. Which to me is the most valuable. That time of my life is valuable to me because it taught me many lessons. When my “don’t know what I’m doing with my life” reached its peak in summer of 2016, I knew I had to be proactive to find out. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to story tell. That had always been the driving force of my creative pursuits. When I rediscovered my love for painting that year after deciding to pick up the brush to find solace for my heart at the time, I knew this was it. That painting would be my medium to share stories. I did not have any connections to anyone in the arts industry. Nor did I have any idea how I would even begin. But I believe the Universe honored my vision and placed tests and obstacles in my life for my growth. What I never wavered from was listening to my heart and intuition and continuing to nurture them. This is only the beginning of my story. I’m still learning not only about myself, but how I wish to move within this world. Because the impact of our actions affect more than we know. I hope that sharing my story will encourage you to never hesitate to be true to your own being. As we all have stories within us that are meant to be shared.
