I remember when @marc_shaiman and @scottwittman wrote this song for a new play they were working on and welling up the first time I heard it through.
I remember seeing it in previews for #hairspray in Seattle and chills shooting though my body. I remember @queenlatifah and the dancers from the movie unexpectedly singing this live at the read through for the movie for the studio in Toronto and watching everyone in that room openly weeping. I remember recording at 3 am after an exhausting day of shooting, and the queen just asked for candlelight, and sang it in just a couple takes, everyone in tears. I remember every second of shooting this and thinking how humbled and honored and lucky I was to bear witness to the beauty and truth I was capturing in film. It has never meant more to me now.
