With social media none of us will never win. Years ago I was engaged to a man named Marcus who was black. The relationship didn’t work out but I have fond memories of that time. I was also in a 3 yr relationship with a man who’s mother was white and father was black, so Cleveland was half English, half Jamaican. Beautiful! I will never, ever understand what black people have been through and still continue to go through. Looking back I had the tiniest glimpse of it during my time in those relationships although at the time I naively just assumed it was a person who was “being rude.” Like I said, a tiny insight hence why I will never truly know how it feels. My friend cinta attended a peaceful protest in London and the pics & videos she sent me were lovely. It made me actually quite tearful. My friend rob attended a protest whereby he said he actually felt scared at how violent some people were being. Glass being thrown, pushing & shoving. The total opposite 😔 I completely understand the reasons why and I support anyone wanting to protest peacefully. People are angry and upset and rightly so!!!! George Floyd was murdered by a racist policeman. Even typing that sickens me. From that, it’s awakened so many of us, myself included who NEED to know whats happening in 2020 and all the years beforehand. I believe a message is much more powerful when delivered in a peaceful and positive way. Being violent, smashing things up and wanting to hurt others is moving in circles instead of moving forwards. Change is needed and I’m praying we can get there without hurting each other even more. #Georgefloyd #blacklivesmatter 🖤」6月7日 17時45分 - glouiseatkinson
