Hope is a tool that can be used against the oppressor, so if anyone feels like giving up, please get back up again and fight. Yesterday at the London protest there was hope, and hope is power. Will be there on Wednesday again, in solidarity with George Floyd’s family and community in Minneapolis, and with everyone across the globe who is angry, scared and suffering after seeing the police officer murder a black man, on film. I believe this is a political issue, intrinsically linked to capitalism, and that what is happening in America is a more extreme version of what’s happening here in the UK. We must therefore put pressure on our elected officials here to combat racism and discriminatory violence as well as the severe class and racial inequalities that exist, and work to elect committed anti-racist politicians next time we have the chance.
