Botanical Dyes With @SweetMountainTop *Made With Toyon Dye* 🌿

Materials Needed:
- Toyon leaves & stems (native to California)
- copper pot
- Large burner - Fabric- 100% cotton, wool or silk
- Large tongs or wooden stick
Instructions:
1: 
harvest Toyon leaves and stems.
Respectfully take only what you need to fill your pot.
2:
Fill the pot with broken up Toyon leaves and stems. Make sure your pot is strictly used for botanical dyeing only! Do not cook with your copper pot once it’s been used for plant dyeing.
3:
Cover with water.
4: 
Bring to a boil and simmer for two hours.
5:
For a stronger color, let the dye vat sit overnight.

6:
Strain out all of the plant particles.

7:
Reheat the dye vat for thirty minutes
8:
Add your fabric to the vat for a couple hours-all day. Or until you’re happy with the darkness of color.

9:
Hang dyed fabric out to dry.
Rinse
Then gently wash with natural detergent.
