We were joined by @davidquammen and Tim’s son Bryan. Golf was never part of my family upbringing. My closest connection was “Caddyshack”, the seminal comedy about a golf course. Bill Murray, no slack golfer himself, and his character’s battle with rodents was key to my understanding of golf. We played 18 holes with Tim as my caddy. He recommended the right tool for the shot. Smaller clubs offer more precision is the extent of my new found knowledge. We enjoyed the spring air as birds sang and ignored us as we “played through” their habitat. Having sand hill cranes on a golf course was the unexpected joy of the day. ⛳️⛳️⛳️ David’s book “Spillover” (2012) looks into diseases that originate in animals before finding a happy home in humans. He predicted what we are now experiencing. It’s a worthwhile read given the current pandemic. With social distancing the norm we used “Fauci Rules” for not having to touch the pole on the putting green. ☠️☠️☠️ Ironically 8 years ago today I was slowly expiring on Chomolungma. With out candy air I willed my body beyond reason and suffered a fair bit. Where we will be 8 years from today? Golf is humbling. As a novice I had no background to overthink my technique.
