A few friends said how beautiful it was and quite honestly, the idea of open space sounded amazing to us. After about an hour and a half we get there and it’s closed. The Poppy Reserve is closed, but there’s still poppies all along the sides of the road so we pull over and get out. It’s so windy. Like my hat blew off my head “four times” windy until I said eff the hat. We’ve never been there before but we can tell the poppy’s have started to burn off from the heat. BUT, it’s beautiful and the air is FRESH. There’s a zillion people roaming around and we’re all able to have our own space in the poppy fields. Some people have picnics, there’s a ton of dogs, and you see orange flowers as far as the eye can see. It’s pretty special. We see a family setting up for a photo shoot. Like a legit photo shoot. Everyone is taking pictures but this man (his name is Sam) has a mac daddy camera and lights and finds the perfect spot for his family photos. As he’s walking by us I say hi, joke about being next in line for the photo shoot and he actually offers to snap a few pics of us when he’s done taking photos of his family. ☺️ Hence this photo we snagged at the California Poppy Reserve because Sam, (a total stranger) took the time to spread the love, his love for photography. Sam asked me if he could email us the photos and then he ACTUALLY did! I love this picture because it represents kindness. We could all so easily shrink and not talk to people (6ft. apart yes) and continue to go about our business, behind masks, not interacting with each other, OR we can safely and cautiously find ways to be kind and still practice humanity. I’ve totally hidden behind the mask and gloves before and it doesn’t make me feel good. So for whatever it’s worth, I will try and spread some extra kindness today. Are you with me?!」5月4日 0時17分
