Photo by @daisygilardini | On the Antarctic Peninsula, gentoo penguin populations are increasing due to their more varied diet (compared with Adélie and chinstrap penguins). Gentoo penguins spend their days at sea, hunting for fish, squid, and krill. They usually lay two eggs on a nest built out of little stones. The chicks remain in the nest for roughly a month, where their parents look after them until they’re ready to go to sea.
