I went to spend a few hours doing one of my favorite things in NYC..wander around soho’s cobblestone streets alone. . As I stepped out of a favorite lil shop my phone rang. “Hmm it’s loud out here but my Aunt never calls me so it must be important”. . My frantic Aunt had just gone to check on my Dad & found him sitting on the couch where he always sits in the am with his coffee. She hadn’t even called the ambulance yet & didn’t know which way to move. . Just like that. Gone. . Oddly, months earlier when I asked him if he could join me in nyc I sensed panic in his voice as he tried to explain why he couldn’t join me. How hard the travel is for him now, etc.. . A part of me wanted to be mad at him for not finding a way to be there. But for some reason I really understood it wasn’t about me at all. . Had I chosen anger as my path then? I’m sure you know how that story would be playing out about now. . When our ego makes it all about us, nobody wins. . Now more than ever, it’s not about ME..it’s about WE. .
