He ran away from his former teacher, who he said had forced him to beg, and didn’t return home, fearing that his parents might send him back. He and a group of other talibé runaways roam the streets of Dakar, fending for themselves. In the afternoons, they often hang around the amusement park Magic Land, on Dakar’s western corniche, but they don't have the means to enter.
