ブリット・マーリングさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ブリット・マーリングInstagram)「someone shared this with me — art made for the film #anotherearth which @_mikecahill and I wrote together and he directed. We had never made a feature fiction work before. We started shooting it at Mike’s mom’s house with just my sister Morgan and our friend Liang as crew. A crew of 4 for two weeks in the snow. We shot the final sequence of the film that way with some fabric we got from Michael’s craft store as our green screen. Then the wonderful producer @huntercgray joined us and helped secure funds and other cast and resources to shoot the majority of the film. But we were never more than a crew of 12 for most of shooting and the budget was around 100k. It remains one of my favorite experiences of filmmaking. I think a lot about how there is no place to get to with making art. No center or stage or honor that will hold. Nothing to arrive at. In fact, if anything, you are often chasing the feelings you had when you made work for the first time. When you didn’t know anything and were acting from instinct, desire and love. You sometimes hear ppl use the word amateur as if it’s a dirty word. As if not being a paid professional means it isn’t for real or doesn’t count. But amateur is from the Greek root “ama” — to do something for the love of it. And I think that’s the intangible thing inside art that actually stirs something in us. In these strange times when so much has been put on pause it feels to me like a good moment to take time to do things for the love of it and especially to do things for others in need for the love of it. If you know who made this “amateur” poster — shout it out 🤍」3月21日 3時18分 - britmarling
