Being an emotional eater and struggling with an eating disorder meant I always went through the vicious cycle of gaining and losing weight year after year. I have always constantly felt like I could not maintain my weight without extreme dieting and hours and hours of cardio which I would keep up for months. However I could never keep it up and then I would spend months out of the gym, eating my weight in food and gaining all the weight back. I found Lauren’s program when I reached a turning point in my life. I had just started working as a physician and I was so ashamed of my body and how I looked. I would advise my patients to eat well and lose weight for their well-being while I put on the pounds and inevitably gained 50lbs in a 4-5 months due to stress eating and binging. I was sluggish in the hospital, always out of breath; I felt so ashamed. So this year I decided enough is enough and not only did I need to be healthy for myself to love a full life but I also needed to do it for my family. I joined the challenge and promised myself to see it through till the end even if I fell, I would pick myself up and continue. It wasn’t easy and I did stumble a few weekends of the 6 weeks but I didn’t give up. Even during a month of 16 hour shifts, 6 days a week, I would wake up at 4am to workout or go to the gym at 9pm at the end of my shift. I used this challenge to prove to myself that I can be the best version of myself that I always believed in my heart I could be. The workouts were fantastic and from before I knew it, three weeks in, I looked in my mirror and my body was changing dramatically. I’m SO glad I made it to the end and I can’t wait to do more and more of these. 2020 is my year :)” She also took home $1,250 in cash for having accomplished this amazing transformation.
