58 years ago today, then Lieutenant Colonel John Glenn sat on top of a consistently Atlas rocket and became the first American to orbit the Earth. Spent a lot of time with him in my head and heart last year and still am beyond honored to have had the opportunity to tell his story. If you don’t know about him or NASA’s Mercury program do yourself a favor and read up. These were some pretty remarkable people that did the unimaginable. #therightstuff @natgeochannel
