On February 20th, 1962 Friendship 7 launched from this exact spot and carried John Glenn into orbit around the earth. There have been no end of humbling, surreal moments on this job but standing here now, watching the sun go down, and thinking of the amount of courage, faith, determination and painstaking work that made that flight possible is now number one on the list. @natgeochannel #therightstuff
