It is always my goal as a journalist to pass unseen in wild places, but that can be a little hard to accomplish when your subject is a curious tiger shark—and you’re eight feet long with fins, carrying an underwater camera housing! The key with sharks is to remain calm. This large tiger shark was attracted to my camera. I let her mouth it for a second and then she went on her way. Once you spend enough time with these sharks, you realize how intelligent, sensitive, and cautious they are. This makes it even harder to fathom that around the world humans kill more than 11,000 sharks every single hour.
