Monstrosity both fleeting and real. An alchemy of sorts. And there’s no greater alchemy than the conversion of pain to triumph, suffering to beauty. Last season we noticed one of our pattern-cutters had self-harming scars. Faded but vivid nonetheless and she’d wear long sleeves to cover them. We talked to her about them and came to the conclusion that despite or even because of their origin they were actually very beautiful. We asked her if she would be comfortable converting them to embroidery for one of the looks. She agreed and contributed to probably our favourite look of the collection. Our team is very close and needless to say the process was both disturbing and uplifting for them. After researching the Finnish practice of molybdomancy (telling the future by dropping hot tin or molybdenum into water) we’ve expanded the mythology to metal and made these new metal ‘scars’ that she’s sewn onto a look for this collection.」1月18日 20時15分
