There are even signs, with this photo, pointing you in the right direction so you can take your own version. I enjoy taking part in the ritual, standing alongside countless others, all pointing cameras in the same direction. My job is normally to break away from the pack and find a unique image or angle. It is an interesting exercise to capture an image that is universally loved and celebrated. It reminds me of a scene from Don DeLillo’s novel “White Noise” on the “most photographed barn in America.” Here is an excerpt: "No one sees the barn," he said finally. A long silence followed. "Once you've seen the signs about the barn, it becomes impossible to see the barn." He fell silent once more.
