Other people’s stories. I had maybe one audition. The entire year of 2010 no one would even consider me. I had my best friend who was visiting from Toronto help me take these photos against a wall so I could have a headshot. My family helped me pay the rent. I knew nobody. I waited for the conversation to shift when “enough would be enough” and I would move back to Toronto but not a single family member or friend ever suggested it. And because they believed in me I stayed. I kept my head down and stayed. A year and a half of being broke and jobless and then 2011 I booked a pilot on Fox called New Girl. My life changed overnight. And so my take away from the last decade is to hold up the ones your love. Keep the light shining bright on them.
